I need a serpentine belt for the aforementioned engine. Local marine store tells me there are two different ones depending on the alternator and that the alternator would be stamped, its not. How do I determine which belt/alternator I need? Sorry if I have not included all necessary info for someone to answer let me know what info is needed and I will work on it.

can you post the serial number of the engine. Don could probably cross that and let you know what belt you need.

I am curious now as well. Never knew GM used different alternators in 2000 ..

Is there a Mercruiser p/n on your current belt? Bump the engine over until you can read the p/n.

Worst case scenario, NAPA has a belt measuring device that can get you the exact length (as long as your belt is still in tact obviously)

I used the belt measurer a lot when I was racing oval track, and using different diameter crank pullies.
