01 Johnson ran with no oil bad tick

Long story short my grand Pa has a 22ft benningtion with a 2 stroke 90hpjohnson he got the oil tank removed so he could mix his own gas and oil did that for a few years and he installed the oil tank this year for got to fill it up boat went into limp mode and he idled all the way home thinking it was his brain box messing up no low oil light or anything now the motor has a loud tick and won't stay at a idle it just bogs out. Now I'm trying to decide do I need to install a new power head or try to rebuild it?

Start by checking the compression. If bad, pull the heads and inspect the bores. I'm guessing bad news and a rebuild in in the near future.

125 on 3 and 90 on 1. The 1 with 90 looks like the plug got a little hot. And it has problems odeling for a long period of time if I keep the rpms up it does ok but when I let it idle it wants to die like a cylinder is loading up

Time to pull the head on the low hole side and have a look.
