2002 Evinrude 150 electrical issues, it will shut off rt after it cranks up, but not every time. Heres what we came up with. Engine cranks and runs and immediately shuts off when key switch goes from 'crank' to 'on'. But not always, sometimes it runs fine
Replaced ignition switch. Same issues. We disconnected main harness so we contained the issue to the engine. We diagnosed that when the starter solenoid is given 12v, it runs and stays running. ie: when key is turned to crank, it's stays running, as soon as the key is turned to on it shuts off. We disconnected the pulse wire on the starter solenoid from the key switch, put 12v to the pulse wire, and used a jumper wire from battery to 'pulse' the starter solenoid. Runs fine. As soon as the pulse wire from ign switch is disconnected from 12v, engine shuts off. Any ideas?
