02 Merc 115 Inline 4 cyl 2+2 fuel problem?

Been troubleshooting a fuel issue for 3 weeks now. Replaced fuel pump kit(verified pump works) and filter, primer bulb, verified same symptoms with external gas tank. Also, the bulb will not get or stay firm! It will start up and idle for 5-10 seconds then die. Choke it and keeps going erratically before dying. Would a stuck float in the #1 top carb ( only idles on cyl 1 and 2) cause this type of problem? I know some of you have been helping me a bit, thanks.<br />sincerely. <br />Mark, at wits end!!

Mark,<br /><br />To check if you have a stuck float, take the front cover off the air intake (in front of the carbs), trim the motor up a bit, maybe 20 degrees, and primer the bulb. Fuel flow out the front of a carb? If so, you found your culprit.<br /><br />Chris..........
