Going to buy a motor for my 1979 Lund Tyee and I found these motors for sale. 03' evinrude flight ram injection 'brand new', 01' 115 Johnson also brand new, or a used 90hp optimax 08' from a dealer. All are about the same price $5k. I use my boat for fishing on lake superior and would be doing a lot of trolling not looking for blazing speed. I think the 115 Johnson has carbs?? Which is fine by me. Just want something dependable. Any opinions would be appreciated. The boat is rated for 150hp. Thanks.

Absolutely, the Johnson. That was a very reliable outboard (V-4) and has great performance for a 115. It will work extremely well for Lake Superior and will be easier to repair if you do have issues. If you idle alot, expect to change plugs on it at the end of the season.

get the 115..big difference in HP plus carbs are easier/cheaper to maintain...$5K is a bit pricey though, down here I can get boat, motor and trailer for that much or less. I have a 1995 Evinrude 115 that is in great condition and will sell it for $1800

Thanks for the info guys!! I went and looked at them yesterday and its kind of unusual because they are still brand new never been run. The guy figures they are half the price of a new one but its hard to compare because they are 10 years older. He did say he would warranty them for a year.
