My starter went out completely some time back. About 1 year ago I ordered a replacement from the sponsor on this forum. Went right in no problem......... BUT now it is beginning to do the same thing the old one did. Turn the key and the shaft just spins. It doesn't rise up to meet the flywheel. Have to turn the key on/off a few times and then it will work. However if the motor is cold and needs to crank more than 2 or 3 times the shaft will retreat back down away from the flywheel and just spins. I bought the starter a year ago and have been living with the behavior for a few months now. Anything I might do to fix this other than just replacing the starter again?
