Hi guys... looked through the archives for this boat as well... curious what the consensus is on this boat? It's an 04 212 RX1 model, 5.0GXI/SX Volvo, wakeboard model with wakeboard tower, swim platform, NO perfect pass (option that yr-not standard as I originally thought), tandem trailer... 350 hours... here's a link to a similar boat I'm looking at. http://www.buyandsellboats.com/boats/for-sale/678392/

Until this boat came along, I had my eye on an 04' Four Winns Horizon 200, 5.0MPI Merc/Alpha One, factory swim platform, single trailer & 200 hours (no tower).

Both boats are at $16,000 bottom dollar.... ???
Where in your opinion does a Rinker fall now... Between a Bayliner and Four Winns??

My concern is first of all the quality of boat I'm getting with resale right behind it as my kids are getting older/busier and I simply don't know how long the boat may be kept for... We don't really need the tower but it would be fun to have with wakeboarding.
I'm open to most boats but had Four Winns & Crownline at the top of the shopping list... We've owned Four Winns, Bayliners, Caravelle, Mariah and others too... so I'm not 100% hung up on brand other than if resale becomes an issue. Never owned a Rinker or been on one...

Thanks in advance!!

Rinker is a solid middle-line boat. Sounds like a nice boat at a fair price. Being an '04 I would think the big depreciation hit has already occurred and it should only gradually devalue during your ownership of it so resale shouldn't be too painful.

That was quick! :) I don't know why I'm a little reserved with the Rinker... they seem like nice boats but we just don't have many in my area. I like the package and the setup... but ??

I can only speak as a Rinker owner. We love our Rinker and if we were going to buy another boat it would be another Rinker. The admiral and I feel it is the best bang for the buck and then some! You may want to check the Rinker forum for others who have that particular model. I am not a fan of Volvo I/Os. Ours has the Merc 350 Mag, Bravo III.

Thank you... LOVE the Duoprop/Bravo III's. Which Rinker?

My take is yes Rinker is not top of the line but neither is FW. However when you get in the 20+ foot range, the stuff that turns me off to the under 20 foot Rinker and FW boats disappears. In other words they do a much better job with their larger bowriders than their smaller version. I don't like the 5.0 in both those and would prefer a 5.7 but 16k is just pocket change for what you are getting there.

I would not have a problem with either boat. Tandem trailer is a nice upgrade. It all comes down to personal preference.

I agree that bigger is better jk... but these 212's only run around 3200lb's so the 5.0 GXI 270hp is a decent match... I've been there, done that with our first boat being under powered... never again.
