I have searched for hours for this and I had a lead on one but it was mysteriously gone when I called about it. I was able to pull up an old thread here about the same topic. However since it was so old I was qued to start a new thread.
I can't believe that they just stopped making this part, but still sell the carburetor. These motors aren't that old and there are thousands out there, this is a critical component for it to run!

If you have personally dealt with this tell me what the fix is. New carb? One that works from another??? HELP PLEASE!

2000 15 hp four stroke Evinrude E15R4SSE. The catalogs show this part was used in multiple engines.

Sadly it is not in the carb kit, although it is an integral part of the carb and does fail and is designed to fail. The only solutions I have seen so far is to buy a new carb at @$600. So if they are still making that carb then that has to be in it. The motor is in new condition.

I was looking at motorcycle diaphragms to see if I could find something that might work. If I do find the fix I will definitely post it back up!

I appreciate the effort! I thought I had one too and again it is because their online inventory doesn't match their actual inventory.

Can you not just make it?

Trust me I am McGyver and I have really been humbled by this one. It is kinda an o-ring type gasket for other parts of the bowl assembly, yet it has a diaphragm in the middle of it. If it were just a block type deal I would have been able to use a kit from a motorcycle. I don't think I am allowed to post pics yet, not sure but I will check and if I can I will upload a pic of it.

I had an idea of coating it in contact cement and letting it dry, but not sure if that is compatible with gas. Gears are churning and the fish are biting!

I believe in those model years and lower hp. the E/J's were rebadged Suzukis...I looked and could not find a diaphram..I dunno maybe a great parts man at a suzuki motorcycle shop could match it with something close enough to modify...you might try one of the salvage yards listed in the Top Secret Files and they could suggest something

That is correct about it being a Suzuki rebadged. That is the trail I have been sniffing on, ironically Honda has the closest looking part.

The 2000 15 4- stroke was an Evinrude designed and built engine, not a Suzuki.

That is good to know. It does say made in USA on it. It is a shame that they no longer support their products tho.

Gotta figure that was an engine designed, and produced in a time when the company making it (OMC) was in its death-throws. A 5 year production run, with parts uncommon to the other Suzuki sourced motors at the time.

It's a shame BRP hasn't picked up the slack. If enough people complain, maybe they will.

thanks for the correction Sea...is there a "dealer hotline" to possibly source one sitting in a parts box somewhere?
