Well i just got my boat back from my dealer (150 opti on a 19 ft Smokercraft) who replaced the power head due to overheat, which was a manufacturing defect. i have to break it in. i was just wondering if there is any thing to watch out for since i didn't have to break the first motor in.

On a standard motor you would double oil for the first couple of tanks, with the OPTI's, I don't know w/o owners manual. Call Mercury as suggeted above.

Re: 06 150 opti breakin

I just bought an '07 Opimax 115. The book said NOT to add oil to the fuel for break in. Run the motor at 3000-4500 rpm's for the first hour, varying rpms every 2 minutes. You can open it up during this time but for only 10 seconds. For the remaining 3 hours you don't want to hold the rpm's at the same speed for more than 10 minutes. Hope this helps
