I am having a intermittent problem on my new to me 2006 bayliner 185. It has the 3.0 mericruser motor. Runs beautiful and is in pretty good shape. Last 2 times out I've pulled into a cove shut the motor off and whe. I go to leave I get no start. All electronics work but it doesn't even try to crank. I've been searching and feel like it's a neutral safety switch issue. Today when it happened I decided to remove the switch and splice the yellow and red wires together thus eliminating the switch. Still nothing. It wasn't until I fiddled with the trim button it started. Any ideas before I tear into this thing? I didn't think the trim had anything to do with it starting.

Thanks for any input

Also tried to jump the starter. It spun fast but wouldn't start the motor. Don't know if that might have something to do with it
