'06 F60: Impeller Change or Water Pump Repair Kit

Was hoping to service the impeller soon as it's been a couple years. My question is if I just need to replace the actual star shaped impeller piece, or is it advisible to do the entire 'water pump repair kit' while I'm in there? Weird thing is, on SIM, the impeller alone costs more than the entire water pump repair kit that includes the impeller.

So basically just trying to understand in what situation I'd need to buy the water pump repair kit. My motor works fine currently.

Always replace the entire water pump kit so you're dead sure everything is new. Depending on usage, folks replace these water pumps yearly, or every 2 or 3 years, or longer. The kit is about $50 and maybe an hour and a half of work, cheap insurance for a key element in your motor's health. If you're running in saltwater or lots of sand and dirt, then that might be a reason to do it more often. The trick is to always replace it Before if fails somewhere down the river! Good Luck!

Like you said the kit is cheap and you replace more parts making sure none of that will come back to bite you later.

I bought and replaced just the impeller once and I may have been just that the impeller I bought was sitting on the shelf for a long time, but it failed in less than a year losing two of the vanes.
Inspect the pump housing to make sure it is OK also.
Pulling, cleaning, and testing Stats is always a good idea also, or replace

Thanks for the advice guys, will order the water pump repair kit today. Will also give the tstats a testing as well.
