Looking to get engine data from a '06 Yamaha F115 piped to a Lowrance LMF-400 or LMF-200 NMEA gauge over a NMEA network. Lowrance sells a Yamaha interconnect cable that I believe plugs into the "command link" interface on the engine and then into the NMEA network. How plug and play is it and what info will be provided to the gauge, i.e. RPM, Fuel Flow, Alt Voltage, Bat voltage, water pressure.... . Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

dont think its gonna happen that way, all i know of is the command link can accept nema data for the tach and fuel function not for engine data output.

I have no idea IF you motor is NEMA 2000 ready (they have a list at the lowrance sight were you buy the parts online )

My understanding is the NEMA 2000 cable is to connect to there GPS units which can then display what you want

Hooked up the LMF-400 gauge onto the nmea network along with the Yamaha interface cable Lowrance sells. I was able to get the gauge to display:

engine rpm
boost pressure
engine trim
engine temp
alternator voltage
fuel rate
hours used

Saved a lot of money using 3rd party guages (total cost $150.00) as opposed to Yamaha Command Link gauges. Didn't get the same amount of info as you would with command link gauges but I will settle for it.

no tubes nor knobs :)
you and I both are getting old :)
Yamaha wont say anything other than the blue and white wires are were it connects.
so the rest of us can only experiment.
but I gotta ask, what kinda boost pressures are you seeing on a normally asperated engine.

Rod......its a Lowrance thing.....I am pretty sure its reading the optional water pressure sender and displays that as "boost pressure".

It works pretty well, and going with the Lowrance unit eliminates buying the Command Link gauges if you choose to. Might be the reason Yamahaaha doesn't support it.

As far as getting old......have your kids figure it out for ya! When I have cell phone issues, I hand the pos over to my 12 year old boys and have them fix it.:D

I know
I have an 18 yr old that was just accepeted to the western NC universities robotics program and a 23 yr old thats doing an automotive degree program at martin comm college. beats me.
I have a customer came in yesterday with his garmin and furuno units connected to his command link that wont display the depth, everything else displays and no one seems to be able to tell us anything.
guess ill play with it a bit.

Not sure what boost pressure is but I now have it displayed. I'll try to research and post results. I do not have the optional water pressure sensor installed. I am using the old tube model water pressure gauge. Yamaha's site lists the optional command link water pressure sensor for $185.00. A bit ridiculous. The biggest reason I did all this is to get some basic engine metrics realtime and not pay an arm and a leg for the command link setup.

Congrats on the kids.....why does he want to get greasy on cars? Tell him he needs to work on boats with dad.:D

Hey...... on the Garmin-Furuno......is that info issue to the displays or from the displays to the CL gauge? I have been able to get the CL's to display depth-temp and speed from a few RayMarine units on a couple of occasions.

Are you getting any info from those units to the CL? I am sure you know about the GPS wire connection.

If those Furuno or Garmin units do not have a NMEA output ground on them try running a ground from the CL at the key switch to the Garmin or Furuno's battery negative power wire.

I am also pretty sure that you are not going to be able to have two NMEA inputs to the CL, it has to be one or the other.
