'09 Dodge Journey add 3rd row seat?

Been looking for a new car for my wife and Dodge Journey's seem to fit the bill. I've found a guy who is dying to get rid of his but it doesn't have the 3rd row, which I desperately need.

Just wondering if anybody knows if one can be converted to have 3rd row? I've looked online and haven't found much info. I wouldn't bother except the price is right and then some on this car and unless it cost more than 3K to do the conversion it would be worth the hassle if it's possible. The one junkyard guy I called was of no help.

We looked at the Journey when the wife was wanting a new car. We opted for the 2011 Nitro. She liked the way it looked and we didn't need the third row seating option. But anyway, that doesn't help you. LOL. Take a look at the rear floor in the Journey and see if it had the setup to latch in a 3rd row seat. I'm assuming the 3rd row is removeable in them, like in a mini van. Try calling the service department at your local Dodge dealer and see if they can help you out. You may be able to find out something on Dodgetalk.com. Mostly Ram truck guys over there but I think they have a section for the Journey. It may be as easy as locating a 3rd row seat and latching it in or it may be a complete pain and next to impossible, depending on how Dodge engineered those things. Good luck!

I'll try Dodgetalk. I found another forum last night and a couple people said it can't be done and another that thought it could, but it sounded like they were all just speculating. I know the back 2 rows of seats need to be replaced but I found both sets for under $500 total. One potential problem is it wouldn't have rear air for the 3rd row but that would just toughen up my kids.

Never did it, bought another minivan instead. Call your local junk yard or do an internet search of junk yards and it will be easy to find the seats. As I remember you'll need new seats for both the 2nd and 3rd row and some of the plastics as well. I'd bet money it could be done as the Caravans have the seat brackets in the floor for either a middle row bench or captains chairs, they're just covered by the carpet. Then again you can't simply add a 3rd row to Chevy Tahoes unless they came with one from factory.
