Hi all, looking for some knowledge....

2009 Glastron GT 185

There is excessive slack between steering wheel movement and stern drive movement. Inside the engine compartment, where the power steering "rack" is, there are two tubes mounted to a bracket. One of the tubes has the feed from the steering wheel on the drivers side of the boat, its on top. The second tube is underneath and larger.

These two are sliding in the bracket of the whole assembly. I can use my hand and hold them so they dont slide and the slack is gone. I can find no diagram on the rack, and cant see a set bolt, or clip/s to hold things steady and in place.

Is something missing or are things supposed to slide or ???????

there is movement motor off and on. however, at speed, there is no slack feel in the steering wheel. it only seems to be at idle. then you cant keep the boat straight, its a constantly walk back and forth and it is NOT bow walk. you can feel the slack in the steering wheel.
