I've recently re-powered from a Force 120 with an in-line 10 micron separator mounted on the motor well. During the sea trial with 3 aboard I didn't notice this phenom, but the Optimax, at 5700 rpm's begins to miss after 2-3 minutes with myself only aboard. I cut the throttle for a bit and the engine goes back to normal, but, when I get it up to @5700, it again begins to lose power. The outboard idles fine and gets the boat on plane in a jiffy, but the high-end problem has me a little puzzled. I pulled the cowling off and there is a 2nd spin-on fuel filter. Is the reason for the high rpm miss the 2 in-line fuel filters? Should I by-pass my old separator?

Re: Normal

With a light load you're hitting the rev limiter.
RPM limit (Guardian) for the 115/135/150/175 is 5800 RPM.
WOT should be somewhere between 5000–5750 RPM on the 150/175.

Chances are your tachometer reading is off a 100 or 2 RPM.

Thank you for your reply Fun Times. Maybe I don't have to by-pass the old filter after all.
Thanks again,:)
