1/4 inch hole in the water tube running to the powerhead

1988 johnson 140 hp while fixing the water pump i felt a small hole in the tube running from little plastic tube on top of the water pump to the powerhead.it is about a half inch up the tube.obviously rusted there a little.is this going to affect my wate pump from doing its job.or is nothing to really concern about.if so can it be replaced and how? ty this is the long tube im talking about where water is transfered to the power head.

You need to close that hole or the motor will overheat. I would consider using heat shrink as a quick, easy fix.

If it's 1/2" up the pipe I think it'll be inside the guide.
