hi, i have been having problems with my battery staying fully charged. i checked my rectifier and when i checked across the red to yellow, meter readings were 0 for both directions on both yellow to red checks.meter readings for yellow to ground were correct.
now the hard part. when i look up the part i get 193-4204. the picture shows a much larger 4 wire rectifier. i currently have the smaller triangular shaped 3 wire rectifier. the hole pattern doesn't look like it will bolt on were mine is mounted. it appears to have 6 bolts were mine has 2. did someone install the incorrect rectifer? at this point i am very confused. i don't want to spend almost $100. on a part i can't use or return. any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

Re: 1.6l omc seadrive rectifier

yes, that is the one i have. the problem is, after going deeper and double checking, it appears this is not the correct rectifier for a 1988 1.6L seadrive.
the correct rectifier has 6 wires instead of 3. i have a manual, but it doesn't give the location in the terminal block for the wires. any idea where i can find this. the only other thing that i can think of is that someone placed a different powerhead on. i wonder if i should go ahead and replace with the same rectifier that was on it. that rectifier is for a 1984 model year. 1988 has the recifier/regulator.
thanks

Re: 1.6l omc seadrive rectifier

I have a 1984 OMC seadrive that was having problems with high voltage. I ran into the same problem most of the electroincs are not what the manual shows. I was able to use a universal voltage regulator rectifier.
01-090-1 - Universal Voltage Regulator

Voltage regulator for all 12 volts electric start systems with rectifier

Replaces OEM #: 410.9113

Suggested Retail Price: $60.00
Our Price: $45.99

Did not bolt up the same so I just made a new mount. I have had it on for 3 months now in salt water an no problems.
