1/8 " Vacuum line routing on 135 Black Max

I have had problems trying to get my 1988 135 Black Max to idle, in gear, without sneezing and RPM dropping and stalling out (as did previous owner after taking it to 2 different repair shops). After I give it some throttle it runs great, smooth. I was told that if there is a vacuum leak in one of these 1/8" lines it would run like this. Also was told to check and make sure that the little check valves are working properly and they are so before I replace the 1/8" lines I'm wondering if anyone could tell me the routing of these lines? I'm wondering if these were replaced at one time and not put to the right location? They start at the carb side (front?) and go back to the plug side (rear?).

I've done most everything I could think of. Compression within 4 psi, carbs cleaned-float levels set-sync'd-etc, all new fuel and oil lines through the motor to the tank, rebuilt fuel pump, spark is excellent (new plugs also), timing was set/adjusted to spec. and also did a Deep Creep cleaning. I've run out of things to do or check??? Any help? Kev.

There is a diagram for routing all those lines in your manual.

I got 2 different books from the library and could find nothing in them, routing or what they were for. I had to ask a shop what the purpose was. Any other suggestions on things to look into to solve this issue?

Thanks much!!! This helps greatly! I went back to the library and checked out one of the repair manuals (Seloc) and it does not have this in it. Thanks again, now I can check to see if this routing is correct.

If you are serious about servicing your own outboard -at least break down and buy the correct Mercury factory manual for your motor. In the long run it WILL save you time and money.
