Well, I have replumbed the live-well system and am in the process of redoing the bildge pump system on my Ranger 373V. I had originally thought of using 2pumps, one on a manual switch and the other on a float switch. Is this over-kill? The boat was originally set-up with one pump.
Reading another thread here, I realized that I could wire one up on both switches. What are your thoughts? Thanks, Barry.

Wow, not a single answer. I did a search and found that 2 pumps going to the same outlet is a no no. So, I am thinking that I will just carry one as a spare and hope for the best.

Its not that hard to drill a second hole beside the first hole, or where ever you want. You can get an install kit at places like walmart that have the hose, pump and the thru hull fiting for cheap. Heres what I-Boats offers http://www.iboats.com/Seasense-Bilg...40756580--**********.882395314--view_id.56027 and you jsut have to supply the pump. But really it depends on what you want to do. If you rarely use the pump to begin with, than I would carry a spare maybe.

Yep, purchased a kit at Wally world. I may go ahead and plumb this in. Thanks for your response.

That's an 18-footer, right? Unless that boat leaks like a seive, two pumps are overkill.

It's almost standard these days to have both a console switch and a float switch attached to each bilge pump.

The float switch is wired directly to the battery so it can't be accidentally turned off.

OK, that makes me think that I should just do the one with a spare availible. Thanks for all your feedback. I will be installing the new pump today. I'll let you know what I ended up doing. :)

I have livewell pumps and bilge pump all by the same manufacturer. One quick change motor and impeller cartridge in the spare locker covers it all.
