1 Wire Alternator Connection

I have a 1978 OMC 350 GM and just purchased a single wire alternator. What is the best way to wire this new alt in to the system. I have an ammeter but no voltmeter? Thanks in advance.

Hook up the big red or orange, or red/ purlple wire that was the main feed (B+) to the the old alternator. Since that is the only one you need on a single wire alternator, not much to do wrong.
