I have a 57 10 hp sportwin--yeah Im a lucky guy:) Anyway, lower end is done and she has bright blue spark with fresh plugs. Popped in a new fuel filter and took a look see. Runs and then cuts out shortly. I have an old school tank and i can keep it running if i keep priming the tank non-stop. I tried to adjust the low speed while doing this and it will stay running even if low speed is closed! I just pulled carb apart--its super clean. Packing washers and cork float are hammered. needle is all metal and looks great so do high and low speed. On a side note, I could hear a bleed down hissing sound by the connection for tank to motor. One of the hoses can be rotated on the connector--think its the air hose. Crimping with a proper crimp tool did not solve this problem. I suspect my problem is in this area? BTW thanks to all that helped with my 1960 18 hp fastwin--which runs mint now. The final solution was replacing shroud pan mounts that mimicked a motor knock/lean carb condition at low idle. I'll bet that little problem buried a lot of outboards on the bottom of a scrap pile!

Rebuild the carb, and rebuild the fuel line connector with new o rings. May need new fuel line as well if it is original, rotting and cracking. Most pressure tanks are in need of a rebuild as well by this point in their lives. No big deal, all parts can still be easily found. Search the method for picking out the o rings on here, I have typed it out a few times. If you cannot find it, let me know.

ok--will do. Cant find anything on o-rings so far. O-rings bad makes a lot of sense though. Are these motors more than 10hp? Sounds like a war machine!
