Hello - I broke my http://www.marineengine.com/parts/vintage-evinrude-johnson/278444/27844400001.htm]Vintage Evinrude Johnson Outboard Parts & Diagrams - Catalog 278444[/url] spring 2" from the stainless clip that's riveted to the starter pulley. Do you believe it's possible to bend the last 2" of remaining spring in a U shape and drill a hole in it and reattach the clip with a rivet, or should I order a part?

Here's a picture of the 2" broken piece. image.jpg

Thanks greatly,

I assume this is rewind spring for the starter rope, correct?

Is the 10 bucks + shipping Marine engine wants for a new spring worth more to you than getting stranded with out being able to start the motor?
Replace the part. Steel fatigues with use. ;)

$8.99 eBay + few bucks shipping = part is on the way!

Thanks!
