100 merc wiring

I have a 150 hp 1977 with a cracked block there is a gentlemen who is selling a 100 hp 1976. Is the wiring the same and compatible.

If the one is a in-line and the other is a V-6 they will not work but if they are both in-lines it will work the 100 horse must be in-line because merc didn't make a 100 hp V-6 but they made a in-line 150 and a V-6 150 that year
