I was thinking about taking my 19' boat to this area, maybe Alexandria Bay area. Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to stay that has a dock that I can park the boat at while staying at the place? I was hoping to get something for the girlfriend and I in early Sept.
It seemed nice around the Clayton area. Then I also saw some places to stay in Alexandria bay with docks but not sure. Thanks

Both places are nice and you should not have an issue finding something with a dock. Most importantly is to make sure you are very careful boating in the thousand island region. There are many unmarked rocks that will do a number on your prop, so make sure you try to stick to channels.
My uncle took his boat to Alex Bay and broke his prop on a rock. He was able to go to the nearby marina where they sold him a new prop. As he was just planing out leaving the marina he struck another rock and broke a second prop.
He felt that because it was so close to the marina that the marina should have warned him about the rocks. The marina told him, as they were selling him a second brand new prop within 30 minutes, that he had no business boating around where he did not know the water.
Message in this story, be extra careful in the thousand islands area.

Well that makes me awful nervous. When you say channel where exactly do you mean?

Just don't assume because it is open water and there are no rock markers, that it is safe to blast through the area. Either have a chart plotter or buy some depth charts and pay attention to where you're going. It can be done safely, but with caution.
