We were outboarding at a pretty good clip when reverse got hit accidently. Had to be towed in. Engine/tranny working fine, prop spins but no thrust. Looking for ideas on what this could be??<br />Shear pin? Gears? Any input may be helpful.

Hi weblady,<br />You had already started this topic in another post. I remember reading it yesterday. There are several experts that monitor this forum and it helps them when trouble shooting a problem to have everything in one thread.<br />I don't know what kind of setup you have that can be put into reverse from forward WOT but if this has happened you may have some gear problems in the lower unit. Someone had answered your earlier post about checking the prop for a spun hub. Have you confirmed that the hub is good or bad yet. <br /><br />If not do a simple test. With the ignition switch turned off and the spark plug wires removed put the motor in gear try to turn the prop by hand while watching the nut on the prop shaft. If the shaft nut remains stationary when the prop turns then you are in luck. The prop hub is spun. Take the prop to a prop shop and have it repaired.<br /><br />If both prop and prop shaft nut turn by hand while the motor is in gear then the problem is more serious and the lower unit will have to be pulled for inspection and repair.<br /><br />Good luck
