I previously asked this question and am still befuddled. On a 1989 110 Evinrude, how do I remove the pin from the shift rod so I can drop my lower unit?? I ordered a manual. The cd says "60-235hp; 1974-1991", but the 110 is not listed in the manual. Do I have to remove a carb, starter....? Thank you for the responses I got earlier. You guys are incredible mechanics and very helpful to a lot of people. If anyone has a diagram or pic on this shift rod, I would really appreciate some help. I'm not daring, so I don't want to start taking things apart that I don't have to. I sorta feel like an idiot among brain surgeons! God bless, have a great Christmas season.

There's a small spring clip, starboard side, on the shift arm. Remove the clip and the shift arm should slide sideways enough to free the connector pin from the shift rod.

Thanks to all of you for your input and information. I will attempt to get on this and get it done. I think this forum is incredible. You guys that know your stuff are pretty big-hearted to take the time to help fellow boaters. God bless you for your kindness.
