110 Merc Date of Manufacture

I bought a used boat with a Merc 110 2 stroke in line 6 cyl. They told me the motor was 1988. Is there any way to confirm this from the serial number or other markings on the motor? It seems to run fine on the water.

Maxrules dot com on the web may have your model but you will need your serial number.

If its a 110hp 6 cylinder its a 1966-67 model......

?My mistake. It is 115 Merc 2 stroke. Who can help me.

A716391 is the serial # On the back plate it says it was made in Missassauga, Ontario. I am guessing 87 or 88? I just want to know for sure.
