Re: 112 outboard removel

Some three point pullers can be adapted to lift your engine. Just be sure the bolts will take the weight. If the puller dose not come with a lifting eye, you can put an lifting eye through the center of the puller and double nut it. Leaving a motor hang is inviting trouble. It's best to devise some way to support the engine or lay it down till your ready for it again. If you look on the starboard side of the steering tube where the steering cable goes in, there is a large nut holding the cable to the tube. Run this nut all the way off. Make sure the steering ram in the cable is retracted as far as it will go. As you lift the engine, slide it to the port side of he boat pulling the steering cable from the steering tube. There is no pressure in the tube or steering cable to worry about.

Good luck!

OBJim :D

An OMC lifting eye was just sold on ebay. It was pretty expensive, I thought. For what its worth, I pulled a 150 Johnson by making up a harness with heavy nylon rope and using a chain hoist had no problem. Ditto OBJIM's post on leaving the motor hanging and good luck to you.
