115 4 stroke- speedometer not working

New 2019 Starcraft toon with new 115 merc 4 stroke. took boat out for maiden splash. motor ran terrific.. amazing how little fuel it used. however, noticed the speedometer on the dash not working at all... dealer will take a look at it, said the speedometer is connected directly to the motor.... where is that connected and thoughts why it's not working.. thanks...

Funny I had the same issue over the weekend with mine, and being we have the same boat with the same motor. Anyway I noticed mine not working after we beached it. What i did was put it in reverse at almost full throttle for 1 second and it worked after that. My guess some dirt was lodged in the pickup hole on the motor after beaching it

interesting... thanks.. was out Sunday on Cayuga Lake- NYS.. deep glacier lake...was some debris in water.. not that much... very strange.... noticed it wasnt working first glance after getting out of launch area....
