No, refering to the shift linkage in the upper end, I haven't removed any screw, or any lever arm, or anything other then the cotter pin that attaches to the shift lever. There is no doubt I have to remove something, but what I don't know. The instruction manual is vague in this area.

Ken,<br /><br />There is still a pin there. You may have to slide the shift shaft off of the pin if the pin is permanently attached to the shifter.<br /><br />It makes it a bit easier to see if the lower unit is in reverse.

Hi Ken, I reponded to your earlier post, but you jumped to a new one. <br /><br />The shift rod enters the lower cowl just behind the carbs and dead center, left to right. From the side of the motor with the linkages, you can see a slotted screw, underneath, centered. This screw must be removed to release the shift rod.
