I have a 1998 115 spl evenrude that keeps over heating.Ive had it rebuit before. and have had
troble with it from then on.Can you tell if the water pump is working the way it should be by the PSI. of the water coming from the stream of water
Are you getting the over heat alarm? Were the t-stats replaced with the overhaul? Is this engine a looper or crossflow?

By the way rider.....me and my fishing Buds go through Farmville on our way to Kerr. Nice little place ya' got there.
To OBJ yes to the over heat alarm and to the
t-stats, im not sure what that is?
Help me out on that!
............
By the way... glad you liked our little town.
Look at both sides of the engine for the bypass covers. There will be two on each side. This indicates a cross flow.

Or just post the model number. We can tell from that.

Point being, in a cross flow engine, there are deflectors around the cylinders that direct water flow....two on each side. If these are missing or shot, this could be the problem IF all other areas have been checked...ie...water pump is good, t-stats are good, etc.
OBJ" Thanks for the info. I din't know about the
deflectors could go bad. My water pump looks good.
and im going to replace the t.stat's.Ill get the
deflector looked at and replaced if bad.If this don't work I dont know what else to do.
Im at wits end! and tired of spending money
on this motor!!!
Ill let you know what happens.
KEEP SMILLING.......Rider1
