took my boat out fishing today with the family, had a good time and caught a few. my problem though is this. on the way back to the landing my power tilt trim stopped working. the motor is a 115 evinrude V4.had to drive home with the motor in the down position. had to really watch those bumps in the road. any suggestions on what the problem may be and how to fix it. thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

I also have a evinrude 115 and experience the same problem. when my wont move it makes a clicking noise but doesnt move. what i do is take off the cal on the engine and at the back of the motor there is a box.it has 2 screws holding it in. it has 2 big block fuses in it. take them out and clean them cause the connections are prolly clogged. i got 2 new ones for bout $30 bucks....write back and tell me if that helps you.

removed the two big block fuses cleaned and put them back. they still only click. was worried it might be the motors so i jumped two wires from battery to wire on motors. motor went up, reversed wires motor went down.
have checked all wiring and can not find anything wrong there.could it be that the two big block fuses need only to be replaced. thanks for your help texas_angler.

If they are clicking then they are working. Make sure your battery is charged and there is no corrossion on the terminals. Make sure all connections are tight.

screenbuzz

There are 2 ways of tackling this problem:
>take educated guesses and replace parts
>troubleshoot in a organized fashion (voltmeter needed)

I can help you with the troubleshooting if you can supply a schematic.....

Trace the blue and green wire from motor to relays, should be connector about 6 inches from relay box, check connection there. Connect meter between blue and green work T&T switch, if relay clicks and thers is no power to motor, relay is bad, points in relay that carry current to motor burnt and dirty. Some of the relays you can remove the cover and see the burnt points.
