115 Evinrude spewing water from spark plug

I have a 1990 Evinrude 115. It often idles too low to keep running. The idle adjustment seems to be all the way up so last summer I made the adjustment where the cable goes into the housing. After running awhile, the idle gets too fast so I adjusted it back down. This spring I had the same problem with low idle, I removed the cover & noticed water spewing from around one of the spark plugs. I had the family & friends with me so I didn't get a chance to check it out. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

My guess would be a bad head gasket, cracked head or block.

It could also be the water jacket cover on the head.

The idling could be any number of things. Your water leak my be as easy as a cylinder head cover gasket that is easily replaced. All you may have to do is remove all those 7/16" headed bolts and clean the gasket surface and replace with a new gasket. That is assuming the water leak is near the base of the sparkplug.

Thanks for the help. It is coming out all around the base of the plug. Hopefully this is something I can do myself.

Your heads are two pieces. There's the head, and the water jacket cover. Sounds like BK has the answer. Check the gasket under the cover.
