A "slow" system makes the engine run at low revs when there is a fault, over heat or the like, there is usually and alarm/lights as well, hey and we can all be lazy but these guys are trying their best to get you going, and all for free!! so best get the manual, it will help you with test procedures and terminology

S.L.O.W. stands for Speed Limiting Overheat Warning. If you purchase a service manual, make sure it is from Bombardier and for your motor. The manual will tell you how to retrieve and erase the codes by using the System Check gauge. Ther are few problems that will initiate S.L.O.W. so you would be better off purchasing the proper manual.

hey guys got the manual the other day and went through it and figured out how to retrieve codes<br />i am getting temp sensor alternator/battery codes replaced the thrmos and they were clogged and also did impeller. she pumps like nobody's business now I also made sure there was no blockage in the water passage on the computer.<br />cleared all the codes and i stil get the same thing after it comes up to temp. I checked resistance on the port side temp sender(working and also on the air temp sender(working)im thinking of replacing the starb side temp sender because i cant get a good reading on it any Ideas?

Your old codes have to be earased or they will show again every time you check. What code numbers are you getting and how long does the motor run before the horn and the CHECK ENGINE lite comes on?<br /><br />Get the manual, a laptop, the diagnostic software, the interface cable, the software handbook, and do a lot of studying to understand the systems and how to troubleshoot them. This is not a lawnmower engine that can be fixed with a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench.<br /><br />You can do all of the above, or take it to a QUALIFIED tech who can check it out pretty quickly.

Re: 115 ficht

I have erased the codes twice now but the motor still goes into slow after about 5 mins or when you try to rev over 2200 will run steady at 2200 the code #s im getting are 26 18 22 in that order I do have the manual and have studied the system fairly thoroughly could the problem be fuel? it doesn't seem likely but im at my wits end with this thing. as i read; interperet the codes i have an alternator issue and a temp switch issue HELP!!!

Re: 115 ficht

ok have determined that the temp switch is bad so i disconnnected it and now am only getting an altenator code from the diagnostic system code #18. checked the voltage from the chrging system and am gettin 14.54 volts manual calls for 14.6V so i am assuming its charging fine and at the proper voltage. keep getting the slow system to activate and am curious if it could be the diode in the rectifier now realizing that i had a short on a bilge pump (now disconnected) going to test rectifier diode but am curious if its even serviceable?

Re: 115 ficht

I think you should disconnect your battery and charge it offline fully before you do anything with the rectifier regulator. Just to be safe don't reconnect it until you have completed the diode test.

Re: 115 ficht

Code 18 is for engine management system voltage, this is a 26 volt circuit if this is a 1999 engine, or a 40 volt circuit if its 2000 or newer. Its got nothing to do with the battery.<br /><br />Code 18 is voltage higher than expected, this suggests a possible voltage regulation problem and require proper (further) testing. These things are too expensive to just arbitrarily start throwing parts at it. It needs proper diagnosis & repair, or the high voltage will burn something ($$$) out.<br /><br />-John<br /><br />BTW - that blocking diode test doesn't apply to the Ficht outboards, it doesn't use it.

Re: 115 ficht

Like I mentioned before, Code 18 is for engine management system voltage, which is either a 26 or a 40 volt circuit, depending on the model year. Again, it's got nothing to do with the 12 volt battery.<br /><br />It would help us if you posted the model number and serial number...<br /><br />-John
