I have an 82' Larson with a 115 horse mercury outboard. There are six cyliners on the motor.
The boat ran smooth all last year, the last time I took the boat out this year it ran smooth for a bit, and then all of a sudden something happened. The boat chugs a little and vibrates everything. It feels like it is missing or something, but not sure. Is there any thing that I can look at before I take it to someone to fix?

Thanks,
Justin Wise

Hi, Justin.Welcome to iboats.
If the plugs have over 80hours on them,I wiould run some decarb cleaner thru it,and change the plugs out and see how it performs. If it is still missing, and you're not mechanicly inclined, I would take it to the shop after that.

Re: 115 horse Mercury running rough

Thanks for the reply, any kind of information helps out now. It seems like I have added so much to this boat. Why can't it just be normal. Maybe there is no normal boat.

I just changed the plugs about a week ago, and the boat ran fine with them in for one day. I change the plugs every spring. Where can you get decard cleaner, will a Walmart have that, or do you usually have to go to a marina. Also how do you add the decarb. Do you just spray it in the intake for the carbs?

I do know quite a bit about motors, but really only car motors. This is the first boat I have ever owened or worked on. Are there any other things like you mentioned that maybe I could do?

Again,
Thanks for you help!
