All owners of this engine regardless if it is a Yamaha or Mercury or year. Do yourself a favor it will take 2 minutes crack the engine oil drain plug to its last thread (so the oil drips out very slowly) what do you see?? Hopefully nothing
but pure oil. I am betting you will see milky oil approx 6 - 12 oz. Condensation I think Not !! Common denominator between Yamaha and Mercury = same powerhead = design problems.

Like I said in the other forum, If you are that unhappy with your Mercury, then sell it on E-Bay and buy another brand. It was all explained to you in the other forum, do you really think this part of the board is going to give you a different answer?

Get a life and stop whinning, if Mercury says that it is acceptable, then believe them, if it turns out that they are wrong, then you have the paperwork that it was happening to your engine too.

Craig

Different forum but same Powerhead on Merc's and yama's 115 4 strokes just trying to get the word out. I have done my paperwork & homework and have come up with a posssible problem. I am just asking the owners to do a quick 2 min. test. I am not whining - You would not work for Mercury or Yamaha by chance???

No, unfortunatly, I don't work for Mercury. They happen to be in parts of the country that I don't like the weather, and I wouldn't work for Yamaha because it's a not a US company.

I have an American outboard

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/showphoto.php?photo=13002&sort=7&thecat=500&password=

An American Boat

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/showphoto.php?photo=13003&sort=7&thecat=500&password=

And an American car (No picture though) 1993 Ford Mustang with a 302 under the hood

Craig

Tucker
See if mercury will extend your warranty. They should if they feel the motor is ok. This will give you time to see if they are right on their dime!

check under the hood on your "american" car and truck, and see just how many of those peices were from some place else... just cause final assembly is in america doesnt make it american... does that mean a new toyota carolla is american, or a mercedes american cause its final assembly is in tennessee?
