ok..here is what I got. I recently got my boat and engine running great after some trouble. 1998 mariner 115Hp. When the engine was having some issues the max rpms were about 5200 rpms.
After dropping it off at the mechanic they got everything runnning smoothly, went through the motor and boat responds the way it should now but I noticed the max rpms are down to 4500-4700 rpms.
One thing that the mechanic mention to me is that the plastic prop is a bad choice and should only be used as a spare to get you home if need be. They do not recommend them.
It is the same prop that got both max rpms.
When I search around it seems that this plastic prop might have been what came on the engine originally.
So I want to change out the prop and add a new one. Currently the prop on there is a 13X19B.(not sure what the B stands for)
What do you recommend for a prop? The boat is a 1998 19' (18.6) Center console Sea Pro and the engine is a 1998 Mariner offshore 115 HP currently with the plastic 13X19B prop?
Any insight would be great? I would like to go to an aluminum or SS prop?
