I have a 115 IL6. Serial # 6400096 on the lower unit tag. It was sold to me by a dealer several years ago as an '88. The serial # checks out to be an '83. I'm rebuilding the carbs and discovered they are not '83 but '84-'88 instead. The carbs have standard .076 jets while the '83 standard jet is .072. The cowl and lower unit have blue stripes. Somebody probably switched the carbs. Would this have been done for performance improvement? Is there anything else I should look for? Does the carb switch cause any tuning problems? Thanks for any insights.

You're fine. I prefer the .076 jets for safety.

Hell, my (quite modified) '88 115 uses .080's like the old 1500's did.

-W
