I have what I believe is about a 1970 model 115 hp. Johnson outboard that I want to put on my pontoon following terminal problems from the original yamaha engine. The Johnson had been sitting for about four years, but was in good working order prior to that. The engine starts and runs great, but the lower-unit is not engaging forward gear. It seems to be stuck in neutral even when the motor is shut off. It will go into reverse as it should and then back to neutral, but not into forward. This is not the typical problems that I am finding on these motors and I need help. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
