this is simple and you may have done this already but try turning your control knob located on the trim motor. to lock it turn it all the way clockwise and to unlock it turn it all the way counter clockwise. this feature is set up for you in case you want to lift the motor manually, which when in water will cause the motor to kick up. hope that helps.
