Well I was hoping that the low comp. in 1 cyl would get better with a good decarb.I unloaded almost an entire can of sea foam into the carb for that cyl.I saved some to spray into the plug end ,waited overnight and in the morning there was no change.i spiked the rev a few times to help clear the carbon and no change.as a matter of fact,I must have reved too high and spun the impeller too quick because the temp went up about 20 degrees and stayed there. The impeller is the least of my worries. Now what??I cant even get a mechanic to take a look when I tell them it is an 84 115 hp. Well shoot Charlie....pull the darn head and take a peak. May just be a blown head gasket. If ya' do see stuff in there that ain't supposed to be, get a manual and take her apart yer self. But get an OEM manual. It'll show you how step by step.

Nothin' to pullin' the head. Just remove the ignition coils and move all the junk around it and then remove the head bolts. Easy. Let us know what your going to do.

Get yourself a can of PB Blaster, Kroil or some other good penetrating oil ( not WD 40) and soat the headbolts overnight before ya start removing them. Might save ya some trouble. ;)

c/6
Hooty

Don't sell yourself short. If you get the OMC shop & parts manual and take your time that would be a fine project.

Hey Hooty, why not the WD 40 ? (I just wanna know because I have two new cans and I have been using it to lubricate the controls in the outboard, and also spraying some on the engine to avoid salt damage....)

Should I stop using it?

I think what Hooty's telling you is that WD40 sucks as a bolt/nut solvent to break things loose. PB Blaster works. WD40 is no better than using Coca Cola (actually Coke or koolaid works better than WD40 for breaking loose frozen parts).

I may just make a winter project out of it.I still dont think i am capable enough but maybe the outboard repair guys may be a little more anxious in december or January when they are doing nothing at all.I would rather do something than doing nothing.Right now the local guys are able to pick and choose the jobs they want.Charlie

I may as well give it a shot,it has no value now.The outboard guys in my area are so busy that the one that did call me back advised me to just turn up the idle and keep using it.Some advise Heh!!Charlie
