Installed a new to me 115 evinrude 1981 model, well somebody at some point in time cut the grey signal wire from the wiring harness. So I have to run my own tach wire from the engine to the tachometer. I looked through some old posts and it sounds like any of the yellow wires from the stator would work, but I wanna make sure before I hook anything up, I don't wanna fry anything. I see the yellow wires on the terminal strip next to the rectifier, I guess I wanna know if it would be ok to wire a connector on one of the yellow wires at that terminal strip and run it to my tachometer????
thanks

Re: 115 Tachometer help

Counting from foreward to aft, one of the yellow wires from the stator will have a gray tracer stripe and that would be connected to the second post on the terminal block. The gray tachometer wire should be connected to the third post which is strapped to the second post.

The substitute gray wire could then be routed directly to the tachometer "S" post.
