2006 115 will not idle consistently. At low speed everything seems to be fine. Its when I have to maneuver to dock the toon the problem starts. When shifting between gears the engine will die. Restarts in a blink but have had a few close calls. Stable was used when she was winterized. The other problem I think I may have is I’m going through fuel at an extremely high rate. Example – I had a 23 ft 4Winns with a 350 small block. 260/270 hp. I could run a weekend on 15/20 gal of fuel. (I’ve been told I have 2 speeds – On the Trailer or WOT.) Now with half the hp I’m burning about twice the fuel pushing a 25 ft twin log pontoon. Engine runs fine other than the above – Starts quickly, no missing at low or high speed can not smell any unburned gas, no fouling of plugs. Engine has about 25 hrs and has been in for service.

what are your idle rpms. if you don't have a tach, try setting your idle stop up just a little. welcome to iboats.

2006 motor should still be under warranty, yes?<br />I'd have a tech come down and set the idle with a remote tach if you don't have one. That 115 will burn up to 10-12 gallons per hour (two stroke, right?) with a heavy foot.

To answer both of your questions the rpm is around 600/700 rpm’s. 5 out of 7 times as soon as I shift from forward to reverse or reverse to forward she dies. Under warranty, yes and no to the heavy foot. I’m pushing a twin log 25ft Sanpan. The majority of the time I’m in the 3500 rpm range. (Although occasionally I do exercise my right ram) <br /><br />When I pulled the air box off I see a red handled lever. (Don’t ask why I did it – inquiring minds what to know? ) Lever is 30/40 degrees past the vertical position. Isn’t this the chock over ride and shouldn’t it be pointed down? To bring up the rpm’s to say 850 I adjust the throttle cable at the engine pan, yes.<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />LTHRNEC

have someone move the throttle and watch the linkage, should be an idle stop screw. figure out where it is. then adjust is with the boat in the water, as the engine has no back pressure on muffs. it sound like it was adjusted on muffs in the beginning. good luck. keep us posted.

it is a choke and the lever should be pointing down,when you push your key in it squirts gas directly into the cylinders allowing easier startup or becomes manual when you move it horizontal

Yes, the red lever should be folded back parallel with the solonoid body.<br /><br />What is your wide open throttle RPM. If is less than 5500 you are lugging the engine and wasting fuel.

On a 60* motor the idle is set with timing and the adjustment is on top of the plastic cover over the flywheel. One lever for low speed and one for high. <br /><br />Before we do that lets look at something. You say it stalls when shifting. If it stalls when shifting out of gear the shift interrupter could be out of adjustment. It'll do just as you describe. <br /><br />As for the fuel it sounds like you found that. The lever on the primer solenoid should be parallel and completely shut off for normal operation. Sounds like they might not have got it completely closed when they fogged the motor.

Well that explains the hard starting. As far as the rpm’s are concerned I’m right around 5,480 with just my wife & I in the boat. I was wondering what those 2 plastic levers were for. I kind of thought they might be for the idle with the high on one side & low on the other, but w/o knowing what they were for I didn’t mess with them. Do I just adjust the low side lever and what should be the idle rpm range? How do I change the settings. When looking at the settings I believe the high side is the closest and the low is 2 or 3 clicks higher. Anyone know when the 06 shop manual will be available. I’ve checked a few sites, including this one, and haven’t seen a thing.<br /><br />You all have been most helpful. I really do appreciate the assistance – Thanks!!!<br /><br />John
