I have a 70's model 115 that I bought over the summer and the owner said he rebuit the carbs took it out and it ran for about 30 minutes then died. I think it needs the carbs rebuilt maybe something went wong when he did it.

I doubt that it's the carbs, if they worked theres not a lot that could go wrong there, especially all of them at once. Are you familiar at all with these old Mercurys? They are notorious for bad wiring insulation...that would be the first thing to look at! It could have fried the ignition components if the wires are shorting out.

Start by looking for compression and spark.

Thanks I checked for spark and I get it, looked at all the wiring and it looks good. when I pump the bulb I get fuel and then if I keep pumping while starting it flows out of the carbs, so I think I have good fuel it won't even hit once while cranking.

Check your timing marks at the distributor gear and the flywheel, check timing belt...could have jumped a tooth.

I'd keep cranking and choking.

Make sure you have a good cranking battery and not some sorry deep cycle unit.
