115 Yamaha Speedo Problem

I have a 1999 Yamaha that is getting no readout on the speedo. The intake tube is on the motor, that much I know....My question is one of trouble shooting. I found myself having to idle my out of a forest of stumps and I tagged one or two (gently). I think that that is when I noticed it not working. I have since had to change the impellar, and could not find anything off while I was in the foot. Can anyone offer some trouble shooting advice.

is there a tiny hole in the lower front of the foot that the tube hooks in from inside the foot. If so it is probably clogged. use a small wire to clean it out, blow air in from the gauge end.

If not check that the tube is not cut between the foot and the gauge, that was my problem after I installed a new steering cable.

use a small drill bit but turn it by hand; don't let it break off in there
