OK, the first one is from a '72 Merc IL6, and the second is a 73 or 74 Merc Il 4 or 6?

Look on the crowleymarine.com web site and see if the switchboxes match for the two distributors. If they do, the swap will work electrically. You may need to swap the inner case of the distributors.

Another idea is to look up replacements on the internet and see if the replacement for both is the same.
