Someone just brought me a different power head same year 1976. First thing I did was check the compression and #1 thru #6 checked 125 lbs. I had to give $375.00 for it but he left the starter and stator and flywheel on the engine. The distributor puzzles me, I thought it had points but this has a rotor plate, neveer delt with anything like this before. Is the rotor button made on the dist. shaft? I'll have to purchase a manual to learn to replace the timing belt and set the timing.Been a auto mechanic for years but these two cycles are greek to me. Thanks

Re: 1150 power head

Yes, get the manual. It's a CDI ignition. Set it up as per the book.

Also run a can of "Mercury Power Tune" as directed through the new one.

You might wanna see my other post and "do the toon" to your old powerhead while it's set aside. As an emergency spare.

Once you've done it once, you can swap powerheads in an afternoon. :)

-W
