Ok so I just got this 1150 mid 70s distributor style and motor and by all appearances the po was just finishing up a rebuild on it and I was told that he was having a hard time sorting out a no spark issue after installing a new cdi coil and switch setup (Switch Box for Mercury Outboard 4 6 Cylinder 50-150 HP 67-79 CDI 114-2986 [CDI114-2986] - $279.95) this is the coil and switch unit that he installed but if I'm reading the wiring diagrams correctly then I think that it's either missing the red wire or else the manufacturer combined the red and white wires into one wire because the only "red" wire coming out of it is a white wire with a red stripe and that he has connected to the white wire coming from the main harness quick connect plug which has it's small 18 gauge red wire running to the rectifier only, not to the switch box at all. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could walk me through how to make this switch box work in this motor if it can be made to
at all.

So here's the update I now have spark when I crank but no fire. So do I need to jump the red wire into the mix somehow

So do you think a should try to rebuild the distributor or replace the whole thing as one piece?
