Hi all I have a 1977 1150 with a tilt trim. One of the cylinders is leaking, is there a rebuild kit for these rams? If so where can I purchase one.

This is the 2 line ram.

There is a rebuild kit for those cylinders. I would check crowleymarine.com to see if it is still available. Replacement of the teflon seal on the piston requires a special tool. The rest of the kit is mostly orings

I assume it is leaking around the trim rod. You can try replaceing that oring, w/o rebuilding the balance of the cylinder. Most of those Orings are 3/4" diameter. You should be able to match up the thickness of the Oring. After you remove the cylinder end cap (requires a spanner), you can pull out the inner steel cylinder which will have the piston installed in it. Remove the bolt that holds the piston to the trim rod, and leave the piston where it is. Now pull the rod out of the endcap and replace the oring in the end cap, and reassemble.

This persents a challenge as no one around here sales a spanner wrench. I will need to order one but not sure what size the wrench should be. I have looked at 5 different parts stores, went to 2 boat repair shops, and Sears and can not beleive no one carries this wrench. Do you know what size wrench is required?
