Just wondering if this is a good Motor or not. I think it is a 1981 model. Is it easy to find parts for? It is a straight 4 cylinder. It runs smooth with the muffs. How warm should the water from the pee hole be when running it with the muffs? Go out on the boat this weekend for a test drive before buying. What should I look for to make sure there is no hidden damage with the motor? Sorry for being so stupid about this I just want to make sure I don't get screwed on the buy.

Hi, Joker.

Pay attention to the procedure for starting it, and how easily it starts. How does it sound when accellerating? How does it sound (and go) at full throttle? Will it run wide open for 5-10 minutes at a strtetch? After running wide open for a while, will it idle smoothly?

Good luck. :)

Re: 115hp Charger Chrysler outboar motor

JB, Thank you. Took the boat out this weekend with the owner. Started right up and ran great. Ran at full speed for 15 min then let it idle and it was soooo smooth. We went on and bought the boat. We took it out again by ourselves on Sunday and the same thing started right up and ran smooth. Will run at full speed for as long as we wanted and every time after we would let it idle it was smooth. Ran so good that as I talk on the cell phone sitting in front of motor, the person on the other end of the line couldn't even hear the motor running.
